About Oscar Pascual Bakker

Oscar Pascual Bakker

I’m Oscar Pascual Bakker, an engineering leader and AI strategist based in Barcelona. I build AI-native engineering organizations: teams where AI is part of how the work gets done, not a sidekick sitting next to it.

What I do

I help engineering teams move from hero-mode, where delivery depends on a few people knowing too much, to systems where ownership is distributed through documentation, clear interfaces and decision frameworks.

I also design AI workflows that go beyond the chat window: specs that anchor intent, skills that execute deterministically, and review gates that keep humans in control. This is spec-driven development, and I explain how I apply it in Specs & Skills, my approach to AI-first engineering.

And I run engineering with visible signals: DORA metrics for flow and cost telemetry for cloud and tooling, so decisions are grounded in data instead of gut feel.

Results

  • $1M in annual savings through AI automation.
  • Engineering cycle time cut from 4d 2h to 2d 6h, with no new hires and no crunch.
  • eNPS above 40, top-tier team engagement.

What I build

I like to prove ideas in production. Billete en Blanco is a fully autonomous travel blog run by 13 AI agents that come up with the idea, write the article, generate the image and publish on their own, every day. I built it with spec-driven development and AI self-review, and I have not read a single line of its code. I do know exactly how it is deployed, where it can fail and how it recovers.

That experience shaped how I think about the next role in software teams: the Product Builder.

Background

My second surname is Dutch. I was born and raised in Gouda, and yes, I still love the cheese from my hometown.

I hold a degree in Business Computing Engineering, an MBA, and a postgraduate degree in E-commerce Management and Digital Marketing. I am always learning something new.

Outside of work you will find me around castells, good food, good wine and, when the season comes, calçots.
